Gabon's numerous public infrastructure projects, coupled with a policy to promote local business sectors, led to an increase in performance in the construction sector in 2021. The sector's turnover increased by 18.6% in 2021 year-on-year, to 72.6 billion FCFA, according to the Ministry of Economy. These results were supported by "the construction and public works segment, in connection with the Transgabonaise works, the rehabilitation of the railway, the rehabilitation of urban roads and water supply, and the construction of new classrooms," reports Le Nouveau Gabon. This increase in activity in the construction sector also impacted the paint sector, which recorded satisfactory results over the past year.<\/p>\n

Paint production reached 2,980 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 25.31 tonnes. Gabon's construction sector had been struggling for several years. It experienced an initial rebound in 2019 before falling back in 2020 due to the economic crisis.<\/p>\n

The country has set itself the goal of revitalizing it by 2023, in line with its transformation acceleration plan. This will be achieved by promoting investment in construction materials and taking control of construction materials production, with the aim of reducing inputs and maximizing local added value in this sector.<\/p>\n
