Formerly known as SFM Africa, the ACDG group has launched its development programs in southern Gabon, particularly in Mayumba, Nyanga Province. The group, which has over 30 years of experience in developing high-end ecotourism in Africa, has secured long-term land use rights to consolidate and sustainably develop a 731,000-hectare area of forest and savannah in Nyanga Province, southern Gabon.

The creation and development of forestry, agricultural, and ecotourism businesses, supported by regional infrastructure, is detailed in the Grande Mayumba Sustainable Development Plan, in accordance with Gabonese sustainable development law. One-third of the project area is designated as a protected area for conservation, to preserve the unique biodiversity of ecosystems located on the coast, in estuaries, mountains, and savannah. Over the next few years, more than US$160 million will be invested in Grande Mayumba's business activities and infrastructure, creating approximately 2,400 new jobs and promoting sustainable economic development in southern Gabon. Over a 25-year period, the emission of more than 200 million tons of carbon in the project area will be avoided, preventing any type of unplanned development, with its associated deforestation and ecosystem degradation.

This first high-end lodge has a capacity of 24 beds and aims to become a benchmark for ecotourism in equatorial Africa. The lodge was designed by architects Sylvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, who have overseen the construction of some of Africa's most prestigious safari lodges and have received numerous awards. All the timber and plywood used for the construction come from sustainably managed Gabonese forest concessions.

The ACDG Group plans to establish a network of lodges in the country's national parks, although its main development project remains Grande Mayumba. This project integrates sustainable logging and wood processing, sustainable agriculture, and ecotourism, and includes the development of necessary related infrastructure. The ACDG Group's first lodge will help position Gabon as a world-class destination for sustainable tourism. Created in 2002, Mayumba National Park was established to protect the marine biodiversity located at the southwestern tip of Gabon. It is home to beaches, and its coastal vegetation serves as a breeding ground for leatherback sea turtles.
