Numerous tax incentive provisions are offered to taxpayers in certain sectors of activity, mainly for the mining (Mining Code), hydrocarbons (Hydrocarbons Code), forestry (Forestry Code), cement industry, tourism (Tourism Investment Law), wood processing industry, large industrial complexes, social housing, agriculture (Agricultural Code), and sports federations.
Specifically, the government encourages investment in some of Gabon's major industries (oil and gas, mining, and timber) through customs and tax incentives (for example, oil and mining companies are exempt from customs duties on imported work equipment).
Gabon also encourages FDI in a range of sectors, including infrastructure and ecotourism. The Tourism Investment Code provides tax incentives for foreign investors in the tourism sector for the first eight years of operation.

The Gabonese Agricultural Code also provides tax and customs incentives for agricultural operators (particularly small and medium-sized enterprises). Under this framework, land used for agriculture and farming is exempt from tax, and all fertilizers and feed imported for ranching are exempt from customs duties.
According to Gabon's 2022-2024 Macroeconomic and Budgetary Framework Document, the government plans to implement a green tax framework related to renewable energy. The government's strategy is thus reflected in the National Integrated Financing Framework (NIFF). Green budgeting makes perfect sense because it will help consolidate the foundations for sustainable development. Policymakers' pre-existing environmental commitments include a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 and the preservation of 98% of Gabonese rainforests.
According to the tax authorities, green taxation, or ecotaxation, aims to tax polluting activities and products to encourage the adoption of more environmentally friendly practices. This will be a way to discourage pollution from heavy and polluting industries.
